Reynad, Kripparrian, Trump, Kolento, TidesofTime and SjoW will be competing in the first ever Prismata tournament, held this Thursday, November 20th.
We’ve seen these players compete at high levels in games like Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, and WoW. Now, they’ve been invited to compete in the first ever pro invitational Prismata tournament. Sparks will fly as these talented players square off in Prismata—a fast-paced card game with no decks and no RNG. Only the skilled will survive.

The tournament will be broadcast 100% live. There will be no need for a stream delay, as Prismata is designed to not allow stream cheating, since players have no hands full of cards to conceal.
What is Prismata?
Prismata is an easy-to-learn, fast-paced hybrid strategy game that borrows familiar elements from real-time strategy games, collectible card games, and tabletop strategy games, combining them in a radical new way. Think “turn-based StarCraft”, but without a map. Or, think of Hearthstone with workers and build orders instead of decks.
In Prismata, instead of having decks, each player has access to a pool of units available for purchase. The unit pool is randomly generated at the start of every game, and is different every time, so players can’t memorize preplanned openings or play the same build orders over and over again. Other than the initial setup and the coin toss to decide who goes first, Prismata has NO RNG WHATSOEVER. This makes the game a completely level playing field and true test of skill—the winner will be the player that best plans and executes their strategy.
Prismata is still in Alpha, so most graphics are not final.
Tourney format
The preliminary stage of the tournament will consist of a 5-game round robin in which each player plays every other player. Games will be played using 45 second time controls, and the Base + 8 Prismata unit set. Any tiebreaks, if necessary, will be played using “Rapid” time controls. The top two players will be invited to a special final match that all other players will spectate!
